Chase recently relaunched its popular Sapphire Reserve credit card with a new $795 annual fee and a generous limited-time welcome bonus. New cardholders can earn 100,000 bonus points plus a $500 travel credit after spending $5,000 in the first three months. The 100,000 points are worth about $2,000 when redeemed through Chase’s travel portal.

Combined with the $500 travel credit, the total introductory offer value is around $2,500. The card also offers strong earning rates, including 8x points on purchases through Chase Travel, 4x points on flights and hotels booked directly, and 3x points on dining worldwide. Cardholders receive valuable perks like a $300 annual travel credit, Priority Pass airport lounge access, travel protections, and credits for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck.

New benefits include complimentary Apple TV+ and Apple Music subscriptions. The 100,000-point bonus provides a lot of flexibility.

New Sapphire Reserve perks explained

Points can be transferred to travel partners like Hyatt and Southwest. For example, 100,000 points could cover five nights at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort in Hawaii. Another new perk is the $500 credit for The Edit, Chase’s curated collection of premium hotels.

The credit is split into two $250 portions, one for January to June and the other for July to December each year. The Edit bookings come with extra benefits like a $100 property credit, daily breakfast for two, potential room upgrades, and early check-in/late checkout when available. Stays also earn 8x points.

While the Sapphire Reserve’s $795 annual fee is high, the 100,000-point bonus, $500 travel credit, and $500 The Edit credit provide substantial first-year value for frequent travelers. Strategic use of the card’s benefits can help offset the ongoing cost in subsequent years.
