The Tamil Nadu Startup Summit 2025 brought together experts who emphasized the importance of introducing entrepreneurial education at the school level to shape the future of innovation. Krishnan Balasubramanian, an Institute Professor at IIT Madras, stressed the need for institutions to create entrepreneurial ecosystems and take learning beyond the classroom. He shared his experiences mentoring startups and highlighted the importance of bringing deep tech solutions from the lab to the market.
Revathi Venkatraman, a Professor and Chairperson at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, noted the necessity of embracing failure as part of the learning process.
Summit highlights early entrepreneurial education
She mentioned that exposing college students to interventions like boot camps and interactions with successful entrepreneurs boosted their confidence in handling failures and coming up with innovative solutions to real-world problems.
Shaivee Malik, Co-founder and COO of Youth Energy, pointed out the crucial role of incubation cells in supporting startups by facilitating discussions among founders and providing necessary mentorship and motivation, especially for those entering sectors without prior experience. Sudarshan Varatharajan, Co-founder and CEO of Eversity, underlined the significance of introducing entrepreneurial experiences early in schools to cultivate business and innovation skills among students. Chandran Krishnan, Managing Director and CEO of Campus Angels Network, concluded the session by highlighting that universities are becoming hubs for entrepreneurship, innovation, and incubation, thus driving the culture of entrepreneurship in academic environments.
The summit, organized by SRM Institute of Science and Technology and co-presented by StartupTN in association with Sify Technologies, aimed to foster discussions on the power of education in driving innovation and entrepreneurship in Tamil Nadu.
