In the US, Social Security provides retirement, disability, and survivor benefits to qualified individuals and their families. The Social Security Administration (SSA) administers these benefits to support those experiencing reduced income or unemployment. Social Security benefit payments for April 2025 will follow this schedule:

April 9: Payments for individuals with birthdays from the 1st to the 10th of any month.

April 16: Payments for individuals with birthdays from the 11th to the 20th of any month. April 23: Payments for individuals with birthdays from the 21st to the 31st of any month. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, which provide monthly support for individuals with disabilities and older adults with little or no income, will also be paid out.

At age 62 in 2025: Up to $2,831 per month.

At full retirement age: Up to $4,018 per month. At age 70: Up to $5,108 per month. Citizens can apply for Social Security retirement benefits online.

Applicants must be 18 or older, and for those applying on behalf of someone under 18, the right option must be selected. For more information or to apply for benefits, visit the Social Security Administration’s official website.
